A photo journal of the week at Meme & Poppy’s house during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We didn’t let it stop us from having fun or eating well 🤣.
Alaina wanted to know if I would send her the pictures I had taken so I said how about if I create a blog for you. “What’s a blog?” 😳
We met Sarah in Decatur at 11:00, got to our house and fixed lunch, then it was into the kitchen to start knocking off the list of things they wanted to make. First off was a pan of Kathy’s blond brownies. Alaina mixed those up. They were gone so fast I didn’t get a pic.
I wuv ham!
He was so proud!
Getting instructions for driving the 4 wheeler
Helping poppy dig a hole
Playing in the water
Dare you to sit down - of course they did
I’m freezing
Building a fire for s’mores
Showing off Vanna
Playing with Hattie
Got the fire going right before the storm hit. The wind blew so hard the smoke and sparks were bad so poppy had to roast all the marshmallows. They enjoyed eating them though.
They were hoping to go swimming on Saturday but it rained all day so we stayed in cooking and sewing.
Making a pair of shorts
Making a bucket hat
Making a scrunchy
So intense
This is a stitch ripper Jo Anne gave me. We used it a LOT!
Alaina wanted to make gnocchi and pesto pasta, ciabatta bread and cinnamon rolls. We couldn’t get basil for the pesto sauce and my basil isn’t big enough to cut yet so we went with ricotta gnocchi, Italian sausage marinara sauce and ciabatta bread. It was a feast to behold and sooo delicious! They did a great job but I was so busy I neglected to take pics of it all 😟. So sad because it was a beautiful plate of food.
Next up was making cinnamon rolls. They were mixing up the icing while watching the timer tick down and lamenting that it was taking so long.
This is what’s left of 2 dozen
They all wanted to try their hand at macarons. This was an epic fail 🤣. We decided To try again another day and make sure we got the measurements right this time. Even Eugene wouldn’t eat these.
A walk in the pasture - two boys and a dog
Warming up
After raining all day Saturday we finally got to go swimming Sunday afternoon.
Eugene wouldn’t get in so Alaina finally convinced him to jump in with her.
He didn’t stay in long. Neither did Alaina.
Penelope did get him to swim to her a few times
Just chillin
Went to Bailyn’s 5th grade parade Monday night. Penelope and Alaina made the posters.
Bailyn and BB.
Pancakes for breakfast
Trying another batch of macarons. This time watching the measurements closely! 🥴
Juicing the lemons and making the filling
This is what they should look like
Perfect (well almost) macarons ready to go into the oven.
Filling them
And of course eating them 😁
Putting in the last piece of the puzzle.
And it’s done
Penelope wanted to make homemade pasta
I think they were a little disappointed that meme doesn’t have a pasta machine 🤣
Rolling this out is hard work!
And they’re cooking. They made chicken Alfredo sauce to go on them and we finished off the last of the ciabatta bread too. Great job girls. It was delish!
One last pan of cinnamon rolls so they can take some home. One thing about it, these girls love to cook and eat. We never had leftovers except for maybe a Eugene size portion.
Take home macarons.
And cinnamon rolls to go
It was a busy but fun week and I hope they made some lasting memories at Meme and Poppy’s.
